Steve Turner – Principal Project Development

Steve Turner - Head of Carbon Economy

Steve leads work on climate change and the low carbon economy. This involves co-ordinating research work, including the Manchester Mini Stern as well as establishing a climate change agency for Greater Manchester.

Working across the Manchester City Region he is managing the development and implementation of the five year programme – Low Carbon Economic Area for the Built Environment.

Nick Uttley – Project Development Manager

Nick’s work is to design and install a programme of Smart Metering to both SME businesses and households, to provide detailed information about their energy usage which will allow them to reduce their energy costs and to save Carbon. Nick will encourage these new groups to share their energy saving experiences and to use their new group buying power both to obtain cheaper ‘green energy’ and to investigate the use of renewables.

Martin Wain – Project Development Manager

Martin manages the Manchester Innovation Investment Fund, which aims to increase the absorptive capacity and the ability of the Manchester City Region to innovate.

Kirstie Haines – Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator.

Kirstie is responsible for developing a sustainable North West approach to engaging employers in workforce well-being and reducing the number of people who fall out of work due to ill health.

Kirstie is working on a range of different interventions across the region, including:

  • Working with GPs and primary care staff to better understand the information and support they need to help people stay in work.
  • Helping Greater Manchester develop a Good Work :Good Health plan that will support employers and public services to put in place the right services to stop people falling out of work.
  • Developing a North West Workplace Wellbeing Charter.
  • Working with Cumbria to engage employers and help develop the public health workplace offer.

Kirstie is also putting in place training and support for workplace practitioners.

Christopher Pope – Mental Health and Work Research Co-ordinator

Chris has been with the company since 2007, when he joined as a graduate with a background in economics and international economic development. Chris has worked on an extensive range of projects. These include pulling together some of the evidence for the Manchester Independent Economic Review; analysing the skill requirements in the local economy for the GM Skills Analysis and Priorities Statement; supporting the role of the Economic Strategy team at New Economy; and analysing unemployment and benefit information for the local economy. Chris has also worked across a variety of topics, including economic indicators, migration, carbon emissions trading, Islamic financing and ethical financing.
