Mock Employment Tribunal

The Beyer Lecture Theatre, Manchester University, Building 49, The Old Quadrangle

This interactive event is being delivered by Eversheds LLP. The mock tribunal will give managers a practical insight into how to handle tricky employment issues – and also how not to handle them. Witnesses in the case and tribunal members will include some of Manchester’s leading experts on employment law, however we are also looking for a couple of volunteers from willing attendees. We are able to offer multiple places per company for this event, as capacity is 60, and the event is ideal for team and line managers.

How can Manchester increase trade and investment with China?

Key conclusions will be presented by the authors, Li-Hsia Chan and Juan Gomez, including those relating to how Manchester can leverage and build on trade and investment activity, local authority, education, tourism and leisure activities to leverage and increase its connectivity with China.

Places are free but are limited. To register please email Rebecca Sanderson or contact Rebecca on 0161 237 4154.

Breakfast will be available from 8.00am, the launch event will start at 8.30am and run until 10am.

GMEC Diversity Alliance: Repeated Workshop: Disability Confidence Training (Delivered in partnership with JCP)

Council Chamber (Whitworth Building) University of Manchester, Oxford Road M13 9PL

GMEC’s Diversity Alliance provides a cross-sectoral forum for those employers across the whole of GM who are proactively working to diversify their organisations. The forum aims to explore the issues that matter most to members, enabling you to exchange ideas, good practice and challenges around the recruitment, retention and progression of a diverse workforce.
The forum discussions are informed through guidance from employment law specialists including the Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), ACAS, and international law firm, Eversheds LLP. Also supported by Jobcentre Plus (JCP), forum meetings aim to help employers achieve their Local Employment Partnership, (LEP) commitments.
Forum meetings are organised thematically, reflecting members’ diversity priorities, current best practice, and the economic climate, incorporating a mixture of presentations, consultancy support and discussion, and providing a unique opportunity for members to network with peers from a wide variety of organisations and sectors. Critical to the success of the forum is that it allows members, both employers and public agencies, to be involved in a learning process that explores new ideas and produces actionable results.
