What is New Economy?

New Economy’s purpose is to create economic growth and prosperity for Manchester*. Manchester is home to a population of 2.6 million residents and generates 50% of the North West’s economic output and 5% of the total national economic output. We are one of the six Association of Manchester Authorities (AGMA) commissions which were established in 2009.

We work with the wider AGMA family of public sector organisations, businesses and universities across Manchester to:

  • Develop economic intelligence.
  • Help create jobs and improve skills.
  • Save money and increase efficiencies.
  • Increase investment and enterprise.
  • Play our part in reducing carbon emissions.

We are committed to working with our partners to inform, inspire, influence and innovate and to deliver AGMA’s vision of ‘prosperity for all’.

_*Throughout the website we refer to ‘Manchester’. By this we mean the ten local authority districts of Greater Manchester; Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan.
