Priorities

Manchester’s Commission for the New Economy leads on economic development for the Manchester City Region on behalf of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA).

Our Priorities are derived from the eleven priorities of the Greater Manchester Strategy:

  • Better Life Chances in the Most Deprived Areas
  • Increasing High Level Skills
  • Attracting and Retaining Talent
  • Economic Base
  • International Connectivity

The six remaining Greater Manchester Strategic Priorities, led mainly by other Commissions, are early years, housing, transport, the low carbon economy, governance and the city region’s “sense of place”. The Commission for the New Economy has a significant role in working with the other Commissions to support the economic aspects of these priorities.

Now that the Greater Manchester Strategy is in place we are working with our partners to ensure consistency between the economic agenda and our programme priorities for the city region.
