Manchester Airport named UK’s best Twitter airport outside London
Manchester Airport has been judged the UK’s number one airport outside of London on Twitter according to new research. The Airport came top in a survey conducted by social media firm AirGate Solutions. It was praised for it’s “innovative” use of social networking technology like Twitter to connect with customers.
The Airport was the first in the Uk to launch an official Twitter stream and now has roughly 9,300 followers.
Passengers are able to access real time flight information for arrivals and departures as well as finding out when their plane is ready to board
Others in the top 10 include Heathrow, Boston, Baltimore, Gatwick, Orlando, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Minneapolis St Paul and Dallas Fort Worth.

Manchester is cost effective for students, says report
Manchester is now the 3rd most cost effective place to study at University according to the Annual NatWest Student Living Index.
The study, based on student spending habits and ways offsetting costs, provided a number of insights, including the fact that 22% of undergraduates choose their university based on factors such as cost of living.
Manchester rose by two places after placing fifth in the 2009 edition of the index, indicating that the city is creating an increasingly attractive offer for students who require a afforadability as well as academic excellence in their choice of university.
