State of the Manchester City Region Debate
BROOKS WORLD POVERTY INSTITUTE DEBATE:
What’s next for the Manchester City Region?
Tuesday 13th April 2010, 18:00 – 21:00
In recent decades there have been some high-profile achievements in the Manchester City Region. Despite these, it still faces some daunting challenges. Severe levels of deprivation, endemic low pay in many parts of the economy, an aging housing stock, growing environmental concerns, and a struggling public infrastructure: these continue to be very real problems made worse by the on-going economic crisis and ones to which any newly elected central government will be expected to respond.
In this context, the Brooks World Poverty Institute is hosting a public debate over the future of the Manchester City Region. The debate will feature contributions from Will Hutton (Work Foundation), Brendan Nevin (Nevin Leather Associates), Caroline Downey (MERCI), Alan Harding (University of Manchester) and David Campbell (Transport Resource Unit, GMCVO).
So this is an invitation: turn up, have your say, and make a difference.
There is no attendance fee.
PLEASE NOTE: This debate is open to the public. No registration is required.
