GMFM Development

The Greater Manchester Forecasting Model is steered by a Model Management Group which strives to ensure that the model reflects the needs of Greater Manchester, and reflects the priorities of local authorities.

As part of this function, the Model Management Group has instigated development of several new additions to the GMFM. These will be detailed below, and further and future developments will also be posted here.

Development of a CO2 module

Amongst primary importance this year has been the development of a CO2 module for the GMFM. Local authorities have increasingly made the green economy and climate change issues at the top of their priorities. As such, a new evidence base has been developed by Oxford Economics which covers CO2 output on many measures:

Output by transport
Output by domestic buildings
Output by industry
Total CO2 output
