Accelerated Growth Scenario

The Accelerated Growth Scenario (AGS) provides an alternative view of the Greater Manchester Forecasting Model (GMFM). Building on the work of the Greater Manchester Strategy (GMS), the AGS looks at how public policy interventions contained within the GMS may boost productivity, enhance skill levels and reduce carbon emissions.

This scenario was developed by Oxford Economics in conjunction with the Model Management Group to ensure a robust alternative scenario to the base forecasts of the GMFM.

This approach is unique in Greater Manchester. Previous iterations of the AGS have utilised local authority expectations of enhanced output and performance of the local economy based on individual policy actions. This iteration is the first to utilise a city region-wide strategy to inform potential future developments and enhancements of the existing GMFM base scenario.
