Greater Manchester Rural Economic Baseline

The Rural Economic Baseline Study (1170kb) informs the actions for Greater Manchester within the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE).

The programme, which runs until 2013 and is funded by the European Union and Defra, is set up to improve productivity in the rural sector and to advance rural development. It provides grant funding to support diversification in the rural sector, the development of new and improved methods of working and the creation of new rural businesses.

Rural business and farmers in Greater Manchester are being urged to take advantage of the £1.1million fund, managed by the Northwest Regional Development Agency. Details are available at www.rdpe@nwda.co.uk

The study will also support future activity in developing the rural agenda across Greater Manchester.
