In 2015 Greater Manchester was invited by the UK Foresight Programme at the Government Office for Science (GOS) to be a part of their project looking at the opportunities and challenges facing UK cities over the next 50 years
As part of the project New Economy, the University of Manchester's Institute of Innovation Research, the GOS and range of Greater Manchester partners undertook a foresight exercise for Greater Manchester called Generation 2040.
By talking to key sectors including young people, academia, national government, business, the voluntary sector and local communities the project explored the long-term trends for the city region and examined the issues and opportunities these could bring.
The resulting two reports can be read here. Please note, they are not official GM policy, but they do contain the collected views of a wide range of Greater Manchester stakeholders.
