Public Protection research

The New Economy Public Protection Research team provides research, data analysis, evaluation / CBA and policy services to a range of clients, including the ten local authorities, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, Greater Manchester Police, and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.

The team’s work simultaneously delivers against a range of priorities within the GM Police and Crime Plan and the Public Service Reform priorities of GMCA. The team is also a core member of the GM Victims’ Services Hub, which supports a programme of work to strengthen the service offer to victims and witnesses of crime in Greater Manchester, and improve their experience both inside and outside the Criminal Justice System.

Priority thematic areas within the 2015/16 research programme include:

  • Domestic violence abuse
  • Place based integration / locality working & asset based approaches
  • Victims services commissioning
  • Alcohol and substance misuse
  • Justice and rehabilitation agenda
